This event is in partnership with the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture. More specifically, this event will examine new solutions to reducing high-poverty schools in Charlotte and how everyone can get involved in making a difference to support these educational institutions.

Summary:

The event will highlight a leading documentary focused on urban education that will be shown in the Student Union Movie Theater to highlight current issues in urban education. After the screening of the documentary, a panel discussion will follow focused on solutions that various stakeholders can make to improve urban school environments.

Urban School Community Service Project

Summary:
The Urban Education Collaborative will provide community service at the Cotswold/Billingsville School to give back and enrich the school environment. If you would like to volunteer for this event, please email us at urban-ed@uncc.edu. Preference will be given to Urban Education Students and students in the School of Education. Volunteers will also have to be cleared via the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Volunteer system.
