American Indian Urban Education Division (AIUED)

The American Indian Urban Education Division (AIUED) promotes partnerships with urban school districts, community organizations, parents and students to develop an urban environment committed to increasing American Indian history and knowledge in the classroom. Our mission is to set the standard for other urban school districts in supporting K-12 Native students living away from their tribal communities and to uproot the idea of Natives as nonexistent in urban areas.

This division will conduct research on topics related to urban schooling of American Indian students and provide trainings for teachers and administrators in working with this population. We also serve as advocates for and collaborators with Native students and parents.
